Compilation

An examination of a business’s accounting records by an accounting firm.

Tips

There are three levels of services offered by accounting firms: compilation, review, and audit. A compilation expresses no assurance regarding a company’s financial statements and is the least intensive of the three levels of services provided. Most small business’s financial statements are a compilation, while middle-market businesses are ordinarily either reviewed or audited.
