Requirements for Being a Guest

Topics Covered

The subjects we discuss are always directly related to M&A. You can browse our past shows here.

M&A Experience Required

Guests must have direct M&A experience, such as private equity professionals, M&A attorneys, investment bankers, family office professionals, integration consultants, and due diligence professionals. If you’re directly involved in M&A, we’d love to hear from you.

Headset Required

You must use a noise-canceling USB headset. We cannot record with a built-in laptop microphone, AirPods, Bluetooth headset, etc. To help eliminate echo, we recommend a stereo headset with two ear cups, such as the top-selling Logitech H390 or the lighter Plantronics 3220

If your audio quality does not meet our production standards, we reserve the right to cancel the recording,

How Recording Your Episode Works

Pre-Recording Discussion

You will talk with Jacob, the host, for several minutes before the recording begins. This will give you a chance to ask any questions and discuss the general outline of the show and the topics we can cover. Note: We don’t speak to guests prior to this stage.

Recorded Discussion

We start recording immediately following the pre-recording discussion. The recorded conversation lasts 30 to 90 minutes, and we take a commercial break every 10 to 20 minutes.

Podcast FAQs

  • Who listens to M&A Talk?

We are the #1 podcast on M&A. While our core audience consists of entrepreneurs and M&A professionals, we have listeners from all walks of life around the world.

  • What makes a great episode?

The best shows are not scripted and sound like natural, informative conversations between friends.

  • What topics are best to discuss?

We can discuss the topics you’re most interested in and knowledgeable about that are directly related to M&A. We suggest focusing the episode on one specific aspect of your specialty, such as private equity vs. venture capital, rather than the broad topic of private equity. A focused topic with a unique perspective helps increase listenership.

  • Can I suggest questions to include?

Yes, we welcome your input! You’ll have an opportunity to offer questions to discuss during the pre-recording (Part 1) immediately before recording the episode.

  • How should I prepare for the episode?

This should be a natural conversation about a topic you’re already well-versed in. No preparation is required beyond obtaining a USB headset, being in a quiet environment, and being ready to discuss your area of expertise.

  • Can we discuss the podcast in advance?

No, you will not have a separate call or exchange emails with Jacob before the episode recording. This saves time and keeps the podcast natural and free-flowing. You will receive additional information and scheduling emails from the Morgan & Westfield team.

  • Will it cost me anything to participate?

    No.

  • Can I bring another professional from our company to join me on the episode?

Yes, but they must be approved. Please include their information when applying.

  • How is the episode edited?

Our team edits the episode after the recording is completed. All coughs, ums, and ahs will be removed, along with any other parts of the conversation that do not flow well.

  • Will my interview be available online?

Yes, your interview will be accessible online on the most popular podcast platforms, and you are free to share the episode with your clients and others in your network.

  • When will the episode become available?

We publish episodes within 60 to 90 days of recording. We’ll notify you by email once your episode goes live.

  • Can my PR/Legal/Risk team sit in on the episode recording?

No. To ensure a natural and authentic conversation flow, we keep the recording session limited to the host and guests. We understand your team's concerns, but having extra people sit in on the call as a silent audience stifles open conversation.

  • Can my PR/Legal/Risk team review the recording before it is posted?

No. To ensure the podcast retains its authentic and unscripted nature, we have a strict policy against pre-release reviews. We are confident in our ability to produce content that meets our brand standards and legal guidelines. If you wish to request a specific part of the conversation be removed, you will need to let us know immediately after the recording before the audio file goes to our editor.

  • Will you publish my episode if my sound quality is poor?

We may need to end a recording session prematurely if severe audio issues persist. Additionally, while we strive to feature all recorded episodes, we do not guarantee that every recording will be published. The final decision on whether to post an episode rests solely with our production team.
